A severe lack of trained care providers and a lack of functioning clinics with proper operational systems result in malfunctioning healthcare systems and low quality of care for patients across the developing world. In order to optimise existing clinics and hospitals and in order to give local healthcare workers the skills to provide the best care for their patients, ICEHA uses a method of rapid skill transfer whereby expert western physicians and nurses transfer their clinical skills onto their local colleagues in the developing world, on a volunteer basis. More than 850 highly qualified western professionals work for ICEHA for free for 6 weeks / year to transfer their medical and operational expertise onto their colleagues in the developing world. So far 14 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America have received ICEHA clinical mentors. An additional 18 are requesting that same assistance.
