Mission Statement: The Kalitala Foundation exists to promote the social transformation of women by self-empowering young girls, one girl at a time. Our goal is to instill in girls the pride of independence, knowledge and self-confidence and to educate men and women in the girls' community to support them in this endeavour, while assisting efforts to improve the community itself. We are dedicated to a long-term strategy effecting the change of existing value systems, through Education; Social Integration; and Economic Autonomy. To achieve our bold mission, the Kalitala Foundation dedicates its resources to the creation and maintenance of educational programs and employment projects, and the provision of safe shelter, health care and nutrition. Vision Statement: The Kalitala Foundation presently carries out it mission for girls at a home and school facility in Kalitala and Gazipur, villages located near Calcutta, India. We view these facilities as our pilot programs and embrace a vision to bring our work to various additional sites in India. We additionally aspire to fulfill our mission in the future in other areas of the globe, including locations in Latin America, Africa or Asia.
