Because there are legal problems making it difficult for poor people with physical disabilities to live safely and contentedly in the community, the mission of the Legal Clinic for the Disabled is to address and resolve those problems. We do this in the following ways:1. Providing legal representation;2. Providing interventionary services where we collect information and make initial phone calls for people who cannot do so effectively on their own;3. Providing legal advice and counseling;4. Educating the private bar on the legal needs of our clients so that they will consider representing them through our office or otherwise.Our services are provided both by in house staff and by pro bono volunteers. We have had special projects focusing on particular needs that we have identified in the community. Presently, we have special projects for victims of domestic violence and for children with special education needs. However, our goal remains representing people on whatever civil legal problem is impacting them. Through this model, we are able to respond to whatever legal problems need addressing to improve our clients' lives
